About

Hi, I’m Michele—the stylist behind Manes by Michele. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and barber with over six years of experience helping people look and feel their best. But more than that, I’m a firm believer that hair is a form of self-expression, and behind every head of hair is a story worth honoring. Like many people, I spent years struggling with my own hair. But I always found comfort in the rituals of getting ready—especially with friends before cheer practice or a night out. I had originally planned to become a nurse—spending years taking prerequisites, working as a caregiver, and serving on the board of my college’s pre-nursing club—but just before transferring into a nursing program, I had a moment of truth. I realized I wasn’t passionate about where I was headed. So I made a bold move: I left everything behind, relocated from the East Bay to Sacramento, and enrolled in cosmetology school to follow my dream. I started cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell in December 2018, graduated with honors in March 2019, and earned my license the following month. I jumped straight into the barber crossover program, got my barber license in August 2019, and quickly found myself immersed in hands-on learning. I began assisting in the salon while also returning to Paul Mitchell as an educator, guiding future stylists just beginning their journey. By February 2020, I transitioned into a commission stylist role—just weeks before the world shut down. Like many stylists during the pandemic, I had to get scrappy and resourceful. From fixing at-home color corrections to navigating unpredictable schedules, I learned to adapt fast and think creatively. In 2022, I officially launched Manes by Michele as an independent stylist. And in 2025, I made the decision to shake things up and joined Alchemy Salon & Spa. I now work alongside an incredible team of artists who inspire me every day to grow, push myself, and show up fully in my craft. It’s the creative, collaborative environment I had been craving—and it’s helped me fall even more in love with what I do. Education is the heart of my career. I’m certified in DreamCatchers tape-in and I-tip extensions and am currently working toward my Habit Extension Method certification. Extensions are a growing passion of mine, and I’m actively pursuing advanced education to make them a cornerstone of my offerings. I continue to invest in cutting, coloring, blonding, vivid, and styling education every year. I’m always learning, always leveling up—because my clients deserve the best of what’s out there. My specialties include vivid fashion colors, lived-in blonding, precision haircuts, and smoothing treatments like Brazilian Blowouts. But what truly sets my services apart is how personalized they are. I take time to understand your lifestyle and goals. Do you want something low-maintenance you can style in five minutes, or are you ready for a bold transformation? I keep it real about what’s achievable—and what it takes to get there—so you leave with hair that’s not only stunning but also sustainable. My energy in the salon is a mix of everything—some days bold and edgy, other days soft and dreamy. I like to think my chair reflects that same spirit. Whether you're laughing, venting, swearing, or just needing space to breathe, I welcome it all. I pride myself on creating a space where people of all backgrounds, identities, and hair types feel safe, seen, and celebrated. In the long run, my dream is to become a nationally recognized independent educator—sharing everything I’ve learned and continuing to uplift other stylists in this ever-evolving industry. If you're looking for a stylist who combines artistry with honesty, and luxury with authenticity, I’d love to meet you. Let’s create something beautiful together.
